Rental Program

About deposits.

Every rental requires a refundable deposit based on the gear's value. Here is exactly how that works.

The Basics

Refundable, and tied to the gear.

Deposit amounts are listed on each kit's product page and are mandatory for all rentals. They are fully refundable, collected separately by invoice 1-3 days before your kit ships, and returned within about a week of a clean, on-time return.

The Terms

What you're agreeing to.

By making a rental reservation you agree to the deposit policy and the rest of the terms accepted at checkout. The deposit must be paid at least three days before your start date so your order is not delayed. The standard refund policy still applies - so failing to place a deposit by the time your camera ships will eventually mean forfeiting the rental fee, since that fee reserves the camera for your period. Rental extensions can be made anytime on the site, subject to availability.

We also accept certificates of insurance (COI) from photography insurance companies in lieu of a full deposit, though a deposit equal to your policy's deductible or $150, whichever is greater, will still be required. Contact us if you are unfamiliar with this process.

Condition

Wear is expected. Abuse isn't.

Normal wear over the years is expected - light seals, shutters reaching end of life, and so on. But if a camera comes back abused, we reserve the right to withhold funds up to the cost of repair or replacement. Cosmetic damage that cannot be rubbed out, and signs of extreme dust or dirt, will incur incremental fees.

Deposits for damaged items take longer to process while the gear is assessed - anywhere from a few days to a few months if a repair technician needs to provide an estimate, as repair houses in this industry are often backlogged. While deposits usually cover the value of the camera, we reserve the right to charge additional fees beyond the deposit when they relate to renter-caused issues, extreme shipping delays, lost rental time, or a gap between the deposit and actual replacement cost.
